'For Love or Country' was nominated for best picture for both the Emmys and the Golden Globes, and I received the Writer's Guild Paul Selvin award for my screenplay. 'Boycott' won the best picture for the NAACP Awards, and was awarded this year's Peabody. When I first encountered Gahl four years ago, I was struggling in every aspect of my life. Our goal in the class was to choose something that we wanted to accomplish!! I didn't even have to think twice about what my desired goal would be. Inevitably, I chose to work on healing my back. I was diagnosed with having a bulging herniated disc of 9mm on L4, and another smaller bulging disc on L5. I am 5'2 1/2 in. tall, and this was considered incurable without surgery. My healing methods have always involved a conservative approach, however, the pain was becoming unbearable, and my range of motion was completely limited. During the first week of Gahl's Kabbalah Class, I received calls from top orthopedic surgeons in the country regarding surgical dates, and future treatments. I was unable to sit through an entire class without intense pain in my lower back , buttocks, and leg pain. By the fourth week, I stopped conversing with any doctors regarding surgery, and I actually started to make a break through. At the end of each class, the group would meditate together to work toward our individual goals. By the grace of G-d, my healing truly began. I started feeling better and better and better. This class was part of the catalyst to my healing process. It basically started the ball rolling in a positive direction of great solid health. I am ecstatic to say that I feel fabulous, and am so thankful that I forgot that I ever had a lower back problem. The doctors involved in this case thought that surgery would be the only recourse. Thank goodness, for Gahl's classes that really empower the individual to tap into energies in and outside themselves with his powerful knowledge and positive energy. Out of five surgeons, four chiropractors, and two internal medical doctors, not one of them thought that I would make it without surgery. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world."
