August Astro Highlights

Welcome to August, a month whose namesake, “Augustus,” derives from the Latin word “augere,” meaning “to increase,” and was used as a title of honor, signifying “venerable” or “esteemed.” So there you have it, we are entering an esteemed month, ruled by Leo, the royal of the zodiac.
Regal or royal, the month’s first 12 days are marred by a Mercury Retrograde in Leo, a sign notorious for its need to control, something that is close to impossible when Mercury retrogrades. The second part of August flows better and it is recommended to start big projects only after August 12.

On August 12 and 13 we have one of the best aspects of the year when Jupiter, exalted in Cancer, gives a warm hug to Venus. This is a wonderful time for art, design, relationships, romantic love, manifested justice, and boost in income. On August 23, the New Moon in Virgo offers a powerful opportunity to start a new job, diet, wellness plan, and adopt a pet.

Important Days
August 1 (Sun conjunct Mercury): Another day of intellectual clarity and mindful deliberation. While Mercury is retrograde, much can still be achieved. It’s a great time to try new strategies and connect to sources of information and data that can help your business and writing.
August 1–2 (Venus square Saturn and Neptune): Watch out for deception, illusions, and fantasies in your primary relationships and financial dealings. Not the best time to start a new relationship. Rapport with people who are older than you can be fraught with discord. Try a new approach to an old problem. August 6 (Mars enters Libra until September 22): Mars the warrior is asked to surrender his sword. Not Mars’ favorite position, but he could excel in fighting for peace. There could be legal issues coming up. However, it’s a good time for compromises and finding resolutions to conflicts.
August 7–9 (Mars trine Uranus): Brilliance and originality are in the air. Mars is stepping into a spacecraft, very much like the character Han Solo from Star Wars. Search for innovative and original solutions. Connections with friends can thrive. Action is guided by new approaches.
August 8–10 (Mars opposite Saturn and Neptune): Saturn is trying to take down Mars’ spacecraft before it has a chance to leave the atmosphere. There could be accidents, mishaps, and physical challenges, especially since Mercury is retrograding. Avoid arguments with superiors, stay calm, and try to do less. The opposition with Neptune adds more hardships to an already difficult period. Stay away from stormy seas (metaphysically and physically speaking). Nightmares and panic are inside and around you.
August 9–11 (Mars trine Pluto): Mars resurrects with the help of Pluto, his Scorpio co-ruler. This is a great aspect for investments, financial gains, inheritance, and retrieving money or assets that belong to you. Sexuality, passion, and letting go of grief. Just be mindful that Mercury is stationary, so it’s not a good time to start anything new.
August 9 (Full Moon in Aquarius): Welcome to the Biblical Day of Love. It’s a day traditionally spent with lovers, best friends, and children. You might feel a push and pull between the need to have quality time with lovers or your children and demands presented by your friends or company.
August 10–11 (Mercury Stationary): The last days of the retrograde can be especially hard, so a bit of patience is needed.
August 12 (Mercury direct in Leo): The lioness is released from captivity and ready to hunt. Remember we still have the post-retrograde shadow for about a week or so, but still, it feels like things are moving forward full steam ahead.
August 12–13 (Venus conjunct Jupiter): One of the best aspects this year, the coming together of the two benevolent planets. Luck, flow in finances, new relationships, and maybe a novel love.
August 12–October 27 (Uranus trine Pluto): A powerful aspect that can bring about transformation through technology, science, social movements, and revolutions. Changes in government that can, in the long run, bring more prosperity.
August 22 (Sun in Virgo until September 22): We are all Virgos for the next 30 days. We are asked to focus and refine our diet, health, routine, work, and how we serve. It’s an ideal time to eliminate impediments to health and productivity.
August 23 (New Moon in Virgo): A great time for a new diet, work project, or service. It’s recommended to reorganize your home and office or home office. A bit of chaos is added by a square to Uranus that can awaken the critic and perfectionist in you. Try to channel these propensities into something productive at work.
August 23–24 (Sun square Uranus): This aspect of unpredictability and revolution can bring about unnecessary change. Do not become a rebel without a cause. However, this can also awaken a new original way of expressing yourself.
August 25 (Venus enters Leo until September 19): The planet of love in the sign of romance is always good news. Just be careful of extramarital affairs. It’s a very creative time with your inner child active and playful. It’s a great time to reconnect to a hobby you had in your teens. Be careful of pointless drama.
August 25–27 (Venus trine Saturn and Neptune): A delightful aspect of art, design, justice, and romance. Long-term plans and relationships are favored.
