July’s Astrological Highlights: Mercury Retrograde + Jupiter in Leo + The Basket

Happy Full Moon in Capricorn. July is an interesting month.

It kicks off with a challenging aspect of Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini (July 3-5), an explosive aspect that can manifest as accidents or mishaps, and yet it is supported by a trine from Pluto (blessing in disguise). This is taking place right on the USA’s 250th anniversary. 

We also have Mercury retrograde in Cancer until July 25, which is not the best time to launch new projects or sign important documents, especially regarding family businesses, homes, and real estate. We also have Jupiter letting go of Cancer, where he was exalted and protected us for the last year, trading his pijammas for his royal garments. Egos are going to inflate, and with Saturn (challenges) in Aries (world leaders), you can expect a great deal of issues affecting politicians. However, Leo is the heart, so hopefully, it can also manifest as openheartedness and kindness, which are the positive attributes of Leo. 

In addition, towards the end of the month, before the sun enters Leo, there is a rare occurrence, something astrologers dub “the busket” (click on the link below to see the image and read more), which, according to the great French astrologer, André Barbault (1921–2019), is a pivotal turning point in human history. An alignment he considered a “relaunch of civilization.”

The Basket of Blessings

As mentioned above, July grants us a cosmic gift – a basket that can be filled with celestial boons. As you can see in the image below, the Sun conjunct Jupiter (giver of gifts) and together they create harmonious aspects with the three global planets – the heavenly bodies that represent long-lasting generational processes: Uranus (science and revolutions), Neptune (dissolver and imagination), and Pluto (death and rebirth). The signs involved are fire (Leo and Aries) and air (Aquarius and Gemini), pushing things forward and into an expansion.

The basket’s handle is the Moon in Libra, the sign of peace, harmony, and beauty. Even the Black Moon Lilith is not acting out as she usually does. Let’s see how this will manifest in your personal life and globally. There could be scientific or technological breakthroughs, or maybe behind the scenes, in some obscure lab somewhere, scientists are coming up with a new invention that would reverberate for years to come. But in your personal life, pay attention to the third week of July and see what you can collect into this basket of benevolence, what you need to relaunch in your life. But remember, it’s better to wait until after July 25 when Mercury goes direct.

July 1 – July 22 (Mercury Retrograde in Cancer): Emotions and memory color your thoughts as Mercury turns retrograde. Miscommunications around home and family may surface. Reflect, review, and reconnect with your emotional past. A good time to undo any familial karma and emotional inheritance. 

July 2 – 4 (Mars conjunct Uranus): Expect sparks, literally and metaphorically, as Mars meets Uranus in the sign of Gemini. This volatile energy fuels actions, sudden shifts, and electric breakthroughs in communication, travel, and technology. Channel it creatively or physically but avoid impulsive reactions or risky behavior.

July 5 (Mars trine Pluto): Mars in Gemini aligns harmoniously with Pluto in Aquarius, empowering focused, transformative action. This is an ideal day to push through challenges or powerfully reinvent how you express your will. Your energy is sharp, strategic, and deeply persuasive. Great for intimacy, sexuality, and getting rid of whatever blocks you.

July 6 (Sun square Saturn): The Sun in Cancer clashes with Saturn in Aries, highlighting limitations, authority issues, and emotional boundaries. You may feel temporarily blocked or discouraged, but this is a chance to build inner strength and long-term resilience. Choose discipline over frustration.

July 6 (Neptune Retrograde begins): Neptune turns retrograde, beginning a five-month inward spiral of spiritual review and dream recalibration. July 14 (New Moon in Cancer): This nurturing lunation plants the seeds for new beginnings related to home, family, and emotional security. Set intentions around safety, healing, and belonging. A perfect time for clearing emotional clutter and starting a fresh chapter with loved ones.

July 18 (Uranus trine Pluto): A rare and empowering alignment between Uranus and Pluto brings sweeping change with purpose. This aspect was also present in July-September of 2025. This is a high-frequency period for technological innovation, political reform, or personal transformation. Embrace evolution.

July 20 (Jupiter trine Neptune): Faith and imagination expand gracefully under this dreamy trine. Creative, spiritual, and compassionate energies flow easily, making it ideal for artistic work, meditation, or acts of generosity. Trust in the magic of inspired vision.

July 20 (Jupiter opposition Pluto): Ambition may become overwhelming or confrontational under this intense face-off. Power dynamics are in the spotlight—watch for manipulation, obsession, or overreaching. Stay ethical and centered as you pursue your goals.

July 22 – August 22 (Sun in Leo): The Sun returns home in radiant Leo, and we are all regal for the next 30 days, ushering in a season of confidence, fun, creativity, recreation, sports, hobbies, and heart-centered expression.
