December Astro Highlights

Welcome to the last of his kind, December, named after the digit 10, which in Numerology is reduced back to 1, to the source. And so it happened that the last month of the year leads to the first one, January, named after Janus, the Roman two-headed god of gateways.
But December is not about chilling and relaxing. It is as if 2024 decided to roll down all her issues and dump it on December. That’s what happens if you, as a year or a person, decide not to deal with issues. Thus, this December, we have a Mercury Retro (Nov 25 – Dec 16) and a Mars retrograde (Dec 6 – Feb 24). Pay extra attention to Dec 6 – 16 as both Mercury and Mars are retrograding together in a deadly reverse tango.

December
December 1 (New Moon in Sagittarius): This month is unique with a New Moon on both the first and last day. Given that it’s a Mercury retrograde New Moon, it’s best to begin something you’ve tried previously and didn’t succeed at. Mars lends support to the New Moon, providing the energy and bravery to achieve your prior objectives.
December 2 (Venus trine Uranus): The month starts with a magical alignment between the goddess of love and the great Awakener. Love takes action. This could also signal innovative and financially rewarding opportunities from technology or science. Consider this a mini-Valentine’s Day; spend it with friends or loved ones. December 4 – 6 (Sun square Saturn): This challenging aspect is rife with doubt, low self-esteem, or individuals pushing their insecurities onto others. It represents the “bad boss” or “awful father” conflict. You might find yourself torn between positive and negative authority figures. Patience and concentration can alleviate these strains. Fortunately, Venus and Neptune offer support, potentially from a partner or your intuition. Take a break during these days and spend time with someone you cherish or in a natural setting near water.
December 6 – 8 (Mercury squares Saturn): Mercury now agitates Saturn, the Lord of Karma. Expect disputes, disharmony, and complications involving older individuals or those with influence over your life. It’s wise to speak minimally, hold back, and let things be.
December 6 – 7 (Mars stationary in Leo): Mars prepares to go retrograde, amplifying its energy during these two charged days. Without an outlet, its heightened force, especially in Leo, can be perilous. Tread carefully, particularly with Mercury also in retrograde.
December 8 – February 25, 2025 (Mars retrograde in Leo and Cancer): Over the next few months, refrain from elective surgeries. Also, avoid initiating disputes or legal proceedings. You might experience a decrease in energy and passion. Use this period to revisit old projects or past hobbies. Past life memories of wars and battles might resurface. Avoid making significant purchases like vehicles or appliances.
December 8 – December 17 (Mercury and Mars retrograde): Having two personal planets in retrograde is challenging. Fortunately, both are retrograding in fire signs, creating a harmonious trine between them. This is an opportune time to revisit past projects, rekindle friendships, and reconnect with core beliefs.
December 7 (Venus in Aquarius until January 3): Venus in this sign encourages strengthening bonds with friends, colleagues, and online connections. It’s also conducive for blending art, design, and music with innovation and technology. The coming month is promising for financial gain and group activities.
December 7 – 8 (Neptune stationary): As the planet of intuition and imagination pauses, your intuitive link to the spiritual plane intensifies. From December 9, Neptune will be direct for several months, making it ideal to embark on yoga, dance, or water-based activities.
December 7 – 8 (Sun opposite Jupiter): Guard against overcommitting. It may seem like everyone demands your attention. Additionally, many seem to be seeking the limelight. Be the dependable person amidst the chaos.
December 12 (Venus opposite Mars): Despite heightened passion and attraction, connecting meaningfully proves elusive. This day poses questions of action versus inaction.
December 15 – 17 (Mercury trine Mars): A welcome change. Despite Mercury’s retrograde, this is an opportune period to accomplish tasks. Communicating authentically can yield positive results, especially in sales and promotion.
December 15 (Full Moon in Gemini): An optimal moment to finalize projects. As this is the year’s final Full Moon, Mars’ retrograde can guide introspection, highlighting areas to relinquish before the new year. With Neptune squaring this phase, remain vigilant against lethargy, deception, or substance misuse.
December 15 – 16 (Mercury stationary): As the Full Moon wanes, Mercury concludes its retrograde. Exercise caution during these days, allowing ideas to mature until December 17.
December 17 (Mercury direct): Mercury offers two weeks of direct motion, enabling year-end preparations.
December 18 – 19 (Sun square Neptune): Feelings of exhaustion and isolation may prevail. Monitor your emotions and immune system and abstain from self-medication.
December 19 – 20 (Venus trine Jupiter): The period preceding the Solstice heralds positive financial or relational news. A time ripe for pursuing romantic, artistic, or material aspirations.
December 20 – 29 (Jupiter square Saturn): Navigate carefully, as misjudgments or feelings of isolation might arise. With December’s close proving demanding, engage in uplifting activities.
December 21 (Sun enters Capricorn until Jan 19, 2025): Celebrate the Solstice, the “Gateway of Gods”. As one of the four sacred astrological days, your spiritual connection peaks. The ensuing month calls for Capricorn-like discipline and focus. Strategize for 2025, bearing in mind that patience is vital.
December 23 (Sun square Nodes): Today, the past and future converge. Feedback received might seem harsh, but if processed constructively, can greatly improve situations.
December 26 – 27 (Mercury opposite Jupiter): Words may be plentiful but substance scant. Prioritize action over talk and attentive listening over excessive communication.
December 27 – 28 (Venus square Uranus): Anticipate disruptions in finances and relationships. Stay alert to unexpected rivals, and explore avant-garde art. While unusual individuals might enter your life, discern who remains.
December 29 – 30 (Chiron stationary): While Chiron’s retrograde might have seemed stagnant, profound healing was underway. As he prepares to turn direct on December 31, expect therapeutic revelations.
December 30 (New Moon in Capricorn): As the year concludes, new beginnings emerge. Exercise caution when embarking on new ventures during this lunation. However, Saturn’s blessing on the New Moon signals a favorable shift. Consider starting your New Year’s resolutions now, especially if they require extended effort and concentration. Minerva graces this New Moon with wisdom and strategy.
